What is the SVEB Certificate Course Instructor (SVEB 1)?

The SVEB Certificate Course Instructor (Module 1), also known as SVEB 1, is the official entry qualification for adult education in Switzerland. Successful completion of the course qualifies you to independently conduct learning events with adults in educational institutions, companies or social organizations. 

With the SVEB 1 Certificate: 

  • You obtain a nationally recognized qualification.
  • You fulfill a key requirement for working as a trainer.
  • You lay the foundation for further qualifications (e.g., Federal Certificate as a Trainer). 

The course is based on the SVEB (Swiss Federation for Adult Learning) framework curriculum and is led by experienced professionals. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate to advance your career.

SVEB 1 Training

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the SVEB 1 training, you will possess a solid foundation in methodology, pedagogy, and social competencies. You will be able to prepare, deliver and evaluate adult learning events within your area of expertise, using predefined concepts, curricula and materials.

You can apply the skills and competencies you acquire in various educational institutions directly. The SVEB Certificate Course Instructor comprises 14 days of training and is a partial qualification for the Federal Certificate of Competence as a Trainer.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Reflection on one’s own learning biography, understanding of learning and role as a teacher.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

The SVEB 1 courses take place with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 14 participants. 

 

GRADUATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

You will receive the SVEB Certificate upon completing the following requirements: 

  •  255 hours of learning time, including:
  • 90 hours of net attendance time
  • 165 hours of self-study
  • Passing a competency assessment (practical demonstration and documented reflection on   the learning process)
  • 80% attendance 

You will receive the SVEB Certificate if you additionally provide proof of: 

  • At least 150 practice hours as a course instructor over at least two years of part-time professional practice. The practice experience can be acquired before, during, and after the course. 

The total learning time thus amounts to 405 hours (255 course hours + 150 practice hours). The course is equivalent to 13.5 ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System). 

Dates for the SVEB Course in Zürich

The total duration of the course is 4 months. Classes are held either on Fridays or Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Costs for the SVEB Course in Zürich

CHF 3,990 incl. certification fees, excluding course materials (CHF 100) 

  • 50% Subsidy
  • After completing all modules and obtaining the Federal Certificate as a Trainer(regardless of exam success), you will receive a 50% reimbursement of course fees through federal subsidies. 

 

Would you like to pay in installments? You can choose a suitable plan: 

  • 3 installments of CHF 1430 including material and administrative fees
  • 4 installments of CHF 1075 including material and administrative fees

The number of participants is limited. Registrations are considered in the order in which they are received. Registration for the SVEB Trainer Certificate Course can be done online using the form that you will find under the SVEB German translation page on our website or directly at the Italk Sprachschule office.
