Moving to Zürich for work or life often comes with a new goal: learning German. If English is your first language, the good news is that the two languages share a lot, so the early steps can feel familiar. What matters most is starting at the right level and keeping it regular.
Lessons are taught in German
Our lessons are taught entirely in German, with no translation. This is on purpose: hearing and using German from the first lesson is the fastest way to learn it. You will also be learning alongside people of many nationalities who have moved to Zürich from all over the world, so German is the shared language of the room, not English.
Where to start
If you have never studied German, you begin at A1, the first level, where you learn to introduce yourself and handle everyday situations. If you have picked up some German already, we check your level with a short test and place you in the right group.
Classes that fit a working life
Classes are taught in small groups, usually up to 12 people, in person at Löwenstrasse 61 or online. If your schedule is full, the semi-intensive course runs in the evenings, and you receive a video recording of any class you miss.
Try a free lesson first
You can try a German lesson free of charge before you enrol. It is the easiest way to meet a teacher, see the pace, and decide if it is right for you. If you also want to sharpen your English for work, we run English courses too.
