SVEB CERTIFICATE
COURSE FOR TRAINERS

Are you already working in adult education or would you like to join an educational institution as a teacher for adults? With an AdA qualification, you qualify for educational work with adults and young people from the age of 16, regardless of your subject area. The SVEB Trainer Certificate is increasingly required in Switzerland for teaching adults (SVEB = Schweizerischer Verband für Weiterbildung). The SVEB Trainer Certificate is nationally recognised.
All courses will take place on the scheduled dates!
Until at least the end of June 2021, the course days will be held online using the Bluejeans video conferencing system. Later, face-to-face or hybrid teaching will take place again.

On request, we can organise a course at your institution or office.
After completing the course, you will have sound methodological and didactic skills as well as social competences. You will be able to prepare, conduct and evaluate learning events with adults within the framework of given concepts, curricula and teaching materials in your field of expertise.
You can then use the skills and competences you have acquired in a tailored manner depending on the type of educational institution. The SVEB Certificate course for Trainers comprises 14 course days and is a partial qualification for the Federal Certificate of Competence as a Trainer.

• Trainers with practical experience in course work with adults.
• Newcomers to adult education.
• Teachers at higher technical colleges in their main occupation and adult educators (HF).

The main topics of the course include:
• adult-specific learning and teaching
• current methods and social forms
• Goal-oriented lesson planning, didactic models
• Reflection on one’s own learning biography, understanding of learning and role as a teacher
• Diversity in learning groups
• Basics of communication
• Conflicts and disturbances in learning groups
• Moderating conversations
• Basics of group dynamics
• Transfer of what has been learnt into one’s own area.
The courses take place with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 14 participants.
You will receive the SVEB certificate after the following proof of achievement:
• 255 hours of learning time, of which:
• 90 hours net attendance time
• 165 hours of self-study
• Passing a proof of competence (practical demonstration and documented reflection of the learning process)
• 80% attendance
You will receive the SVEB certificate if you also provide evidence of
• at least 150 practical hours as a course instructor in at least two years of part-time professional practice. The practical experience can be acquired before, during and after the course.
The total learning time is therefore 405 hours (255 hours for the course + 150 practical hours). The course corresponds to 13.5 ECTS points (ECTS = European Credit Transfer System).
The total duration of the course is 4 months. Classes are held on Fridays or Saturdays from 09:00 to 17:30.

* After attending all modules and completing the Federal Certificate of Competence as a Trainer (regardless of exam success), you will be reimbursed 50% of the course costs through federal subsidies.
